19th March 2010

Dear Parents

As many of you will be aware, Mrs Lorraine Seligmann is unwell. She will be undergoing a medical procedure on Monday in hospital and will return to work as soon as doctors advise. We are really missing Mrs Seligmann and I’m sure you would all like to join me in wishing her a speedy recovery.

Finding a replacement teacher and keeping consistency for the children is a top priority. We have been very fortunate in welcoming Mrs Sheila Stockwell to cover for Mrs Seligmann as much as she could this week. Further supply teaching has been covered by Miss Tammy Siyan and Mrs Zoe Roe. Fortunately Mrs Jenny Hardy is leading the team and ensuring as much consistency and continuity as possible is in place. However please bear with us if regular routines e.g. children being heard read, homework etc., is missed. All staff are rallying round to do their best.

Reminder: Lower Junior assembly to parents on Tuesday morning 9am in the LJ classroom. Could parents wait in the assembly room until the Lower Juniors are ready please.
If possible could each child bring an Egyptian costume – a plain towel or sheet is ideal, white or cream if possible. Thankyou

Good Luck to the Chess team who play in a match against Emmanuel Christian School on Monday.

Yr 6’s meet for a ‘Booster’ session next Wednesday 3 – 4.15p.m.

On Monday 29th March some Early Years children have the opportunity to participate in a Partnership Dance Festival at the Marlborough School. They will be accompanied by Mrs Hardy and travel in private cars with Mrs Hardy, Mrs Mandy Jones (Louise & Rebecca’s Mum) Mrs Elaine Hurst (Luke’s mum) and Rebecca Eriya (Kimuli’s mum) Please could you bring in your child’s booster seat and leave in the school office.
They will leave school at 10a.m. and return in time for lunch. For those pupils participating please sign the consent form attached to allow your child to participate.

At 9.30a.m. on Wednesday 31st March we are having an Easter Service in St. Giles Church with the Revd Walker leading the service and the children singing, taking readings and prayers. All parents and friends are welcome to join us for this Easter Service.

Just under 2 weeks until our Easter Egg-stravaganza on Thursday 1st April starting at 9a.m
There will be an Early Years & Pre-school Easter Bonnet Parade, and a Junior Egg-stravaganza model competition followed by the Easter Egg Raffle to raise extra funds for the school. Donations of Easter Eggs for the raffle would be gratefully received. Tickets for the raffle will be on sale from the school office from Wednesday 24th March.

*For new parents and children to the school*
The tradition is that the Early Years & Pre-school pupils create their own Easter Bonnet to wear
and
The Junior children create an Easter Model based around the theme of ‘eggs’
e.g. from previous years
EGG-lectrician – EGG-ibition – EGG-ercise – EGG-specting
Good Luck and have some fun creating
Please see photos from last year’s competition on our school website

Due to lack of numbers the Easter Workshop on Saturday 27th March in St. Giles Church will now run from 11.30a.m. – 1p.m. but Sorry NO LUNCH will be provided and please note earlier finish time.

From time to time Parents would like clarification about when and if children should be in school due to illness. We have guidance from the Health Protection Agency, which is referred to on request. In cases of diarrhoea and/or vomiting, it is recommended children are kept away from school, nursery, or childminders for 48 hours from the last episode. For various other conditions, please contact the school.

Our term ends on Thursday 1st April at 1.30p.m.

Yours sincerely
